But Officer, I Think You Are Questioning My Motives Car roof, police beacon, copy of Kazimir Malevich `Supermatism Cross`
«But Officer, I Think You Are Questioning My Motives» is a work consisting of a car roof with a rotating police beacon and a copy of Malevich’s work «Suprematism cross», which is inside (behind) the roof on the wall. A text stands next to this object and is a constituent part of the work.
Malevich: But officer, I think you are questioning my motives?
Officer: Why do you think that I care for your motives?
Malevich: Because you protect me, and you protect my work.
Officer: You think that is my duty, my work and my duty is to protect your work from your motives.
Malevich: But, I don't think that I have motives!
Officer: Don't worry, that's my job.
